Lookalikes: Christensen & Stiles

Erika Christensen and Julia Stiles are two actresses it's difficult to tell apart. Both have round faces and hamster cheeks; they're about the same age and star in similar roles. Have you ever found yourself wondering which is which?

Erika Christensen

Christensen bio: Born August 19, 1982 in Seattle, Washington. Christensen was home schooled by her Scientologist parent. She is a Scientologist.

Christensen's best movies: Traffic (2000); Home Room (2003); The Upside of Anger (2004).

Christensen's worst movies: Swimfan (2002); The Perfect Score (2004); How to Rob a Bank (2007).

Critic's view: The AP writes, Christensen earned a place on every critic's ones-to-watch list with her performance as Michael Douglas' drug-addicted daughter in Traffic -- and she is mesmerizing once again [in Swimfan].

On her decision to become an actor: I was 12 when I said I want to be an actor. It took a little bit of convincing and then [my parents] believed me. Then I started making money...

Julia Stiles

Stiles bio: Born March 28, 1981 in New York City. Aged 24, she graduated from Columbia University with a degree in English literature. Stiles appeared on Saturday Night Live on May 5, 2001 playing then-President George W. Bush's daughter Jenna Bush in a skit poking fun at the two first daughters arrested for underage drinking.

Stiles' best movies: State and Main (2000); The Bourne Identity (2002); The Bourne Supremacy (2004); The Bourne Ultimatum (2007);

Stiles' worst movies: Down to You (2000); A Guy Thing (2002); Cry of the Owl (2009).

Critic's view: LA Weely writes of Stiles in Cry of the Owl, Stiles overdoes Jenny's emotional fragility to such a degree that her growing craziness seems to affect the film's storytelling, which becomes increasingly nonsensical and melodramatic as the twists and revelations fly.

Stiles writes in The Guardian: Frequently studios film two endings, and let a test market audience dictate the outcome of the story. Sadly, audiences have come to expect the Hollywood happy ending, and disapprove if questions raised in a film are not neatly answered by the end.

Armand Whyte's view: Erika Christensen is remembered most fondly by fans for her role in Swimfan. Critics expected great things of her after her fine performance in Traffic. Nothing she has done snce then has lived up to that early promise. Julia Stiles is an intelligent actress who seems unable, or perhaps unwilling, to grow out of her role as Nicky Parson in The Bourne movies. Perhaps these two actresses will do their best work in television.
